Packaging & Material Handling History
In 2006 PSI acquired six dual-diameter water-ring extruders from FP International, capable of degassing and simultaneously pelletizing EPS (commonly referred to as Styrofoam, a trademark of Dow Chemical Company). With this purchase and the ensuing union between our two companies, PSI instantly became the largest contract toll recycler of EPS on the East coast. Since that time, PSI has worked tirelessly as a significant force developing an excellent reputation within the packaging industry, grinding and pelletizing various products in national and international programs.
With broad capailities in size reduction equipment, PSI spread into recycling pharmaceutical bottles, bottle caps, pre-forms, CD covers, and clam-shell products, which developed into larger material handling products, including pallets and totes, trays, ROCs, barrels, and an array enclosures.
The need for melt filtration to remove finite metal and contaminants initiated more pelletizing programs from regrind feedstock within our underwater extrusion lines. Quickly customers came to rely on our abilities to process various products, requiring removal of attached metal parts, electronic chips, labels, and noncompatible plastics, which became necessary to maintain the integrity of the materials down stream.
We've demonstrated our ability to orchestrate product-to-material transformations for our customers reliably and responsibly throughout our history.
Whether your needs are in size reduction or pelletization, please consider PSI for your applications; an experienced and qualified industry leader. We take pride in the integrity and honesty we've built into our history.
